In food, nutrition, and personal care industries, the term Halal is used for items considered lawful under Islamic dietary guidelines. Produce, vegetable, fruits, wheat, lentils, fish are few examples of items that are Halal by nature. Under the Islamic Law, following sources including their products/ingredients and derivatives are prohibited and considered unlawful, known as Haraam. All non-Halal products are referred to as “Haraam”. All processed products, even non-meats, must be appropriately audited by a trustworth agency to claim halal certified on their label. Due to supply chain and cross contamination risks, it is necessary to acquire proper certification.
